GeCA – Geoportal of Food Culture. The open and living story of the Italian food tradition
Travel around the GeCA map
The GeCA map is a tool that places culinary and food specialities in their geographical context: showing where the recipes come from enables us to understand the reasons behind them and their popularity. Exploring this map helps you to grasp the complexity and richness of Italian cuisine, culture and history, giving you a ‘taste’ of knowledge that goes back thousands of years.

Micro-clips of digital storytelling: short stories of great traditions
The digital micro-stories of the Geoportal are short films made since 2015: they are the result of a research project aimed at enhancing the ethnographic data of oral culture in terms of time and geography, narrating this complexity in an accessible form: a first bite or a first spoonful of a dish, a taste of flavours, fragrances, quality and know-how and the summary of a much greater, fascinating story.

Share your heritage
What makes a culture active and lively are the people who live it: a heritage that grows daily in the inventiveness, work and memory of the people. The GeCA would like everyone to help create this map of the rich heritage of Italian cuisine. Individuals, families, institutions, associations and companies that have content to share: images, films, audio tracks; traditions, recipes; events, celebrations.
